The Pensacola Beacon is a nonprofit Black lifestyle magazine based in Pensacola, Florida.
Created as a digital-first publication, The Beacon shares the people, businesses, culture, ideas, experiences, and conversations shaping our community.
We believe important local stories should not have to wait for national attention to matter.
They matter because they are ours.
The publication is designed to operate as more than a bimonthly magazine. Its website serves as an always-accessible community platform where readers can discover new stories, revisit past issues, watch interviews, follow local events, and stay connected between editions.

The Pensacola Beacon exists to create space for meaningful Black stories across Pensacola and the surrounding region.
Our mission is to:
- Amplify local voices.
- Celebrate community achievements.
- Support Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs.
- Document culture and creativity.
- Connect residents with people, events, and opportunities.
- Preserve stories that might otherwise go undocumented.
- Create an accessible platform where the community can see itself represented authentically.
Why The Beacon Exists
Every community has people doing meaningful work. There are entrepreneurs creating jobs, educators shaping young minds, artists expressing new ideas, nonprofit leaders serving families, students achieving remarkable things, and everyday residents making a difference quietly. Too many of those stories never receive the attention they deserve. The Pensacola Beacon was created to help change that. We look closer to home and give local stories the space, depth, and visibility they deserve.

The Beacon operates with a digital-first publishing model.
That means our storytelling does not stop when a magazine issue goes to print.
Our digital platform gives us the ability to publish timely community updates, event coverage, interviews, videos, photo stories, and other content throughout the year.
It also allows older stories to remain searchable and accessible instead of disappearing after an issue ends.
